JAMBO!!! GREETINGS FROM MAJENGO – latest update

Hi…Lynn Connell here now…sitting on the floor in Charles’ office, for the last two days trying to get onto my Sympatico account, to no avail – no access…still working on it. But it has been fabulous so far…On day one we met 8 ward and village leaders from Majengo and Mto Wa Mbu at the site of our new orphanage facility – phase one full steam ahead…with 19 local workers on the job, mixing cement by hand, cutting stones, digging, and dragging everything to House 3′s foundation, today they pour cement for that floor..in the meantime, Houses one and two walls are done, 12 feet high! differentiating the outside, and inside rooms. It is just incredible. WE have spent months studying Margie Zeidler’s designs and here we are walking through them! A miracle. Phase one also includes building a huge open dining hall and kitchens, plus and office. To all be completed end of March all going well…then we can move the kids in…Just as well. the other night Marci and I witnessed all 77 kids squished into a small space on the floor each with a plate of good food for dinner.it was cramped beyond description, and hot. Our current dining hall thatched roof had fallen to the ground last month, due to very strong wind and rain. Needless to say our new buildings will be fortified.

The kids are doing splendidly…some are out on their Xmas break, the rest on Friday. We plan to take the little ones into Arusha Sunday for a day of playing at an incredible playground, with swings, slides and a little train running around…the following Sunday, we take the older kids up and down into the NgoraNgora crater, their first time!!!

Spoke to the village leaders about a great proposal i received last week, from Power Africa, a Canadian NGO raising money to put wind and solar and water into remote areas of Africa…with our Majengo community and environs on the top of their list, hopefully!! If i had email i would make followups..hopefully..soon!!! Off to the site… will write later!! xxLynn
