Singing and Dancing on African Children’s Day

African Children’s Day!

On June 16th every year we celebrate the International Day of the African Child. This day is marked to commemorate the Soweto killings of many children in South Africa. Now, this day holds many celebrations across the continent to promote equality and prosperity for the African Child. This year’s theme was based off of the Development Goals designed by the UN – “Strengthen Child Protection and Equal Opportunity for All Children.”

21 Majengo children were able to attend the celebration, which was held in Monduli this year. Many children from other schools and organizations participated in performances throughout the day. The Majengo kids performed traditional dances and acrobatics which all carried the theme for this year. They performed these acts for the government officials, parents and other children who attended the event.
