This African proverb has profound meaning in 2020 with the coronavirus “falling on” people all over the world – no roof has been spared. It is also an important and refreshing reminder that we are not alone. While we need to care for ourselves and our loved ones in these challenging times, we also need to remember that the world is a small place with many people who are less privileged and in desperate need of help to survive. Your continued support makes a significant and meaningful impact.

The turmoil of 2020 dramatically increases the daily challenges faced by the residents of Majengo Children’s Home (MCH) and the surrounding community. Our response is to strengthen the programming for the children living at MCH, while broadening support for neighbouring families and children.

Thanks to our donors, all MCH programs are running smoothly and the local management team is assisting the extended community in new and unprecedented ways. MCH is helping thousands cope with the health and economic impact of the pandemic. We could not have done this without your support.

For Majengo Children’s Home:  Protect the children from the virus with enhanced sanitation, hygiene and medical attention while strengthening the comprehensive basic care provided — shelter, food, clothing, life skills and education programs —   all within a safe, loving place to call home. For The Community:   Support more families, students and local schools with basic needs like information and counselling, food, educational supplies and handwashing facilities. 

We need to secure MCH’s future so that all of the children living there have a place to call home for many years to come. We need to make sure that families like Hadiya’s (proudly using her handwashing kit) continue to receive support from the Majengo team when they need it most.
