Back in 2016 a solar system was installed at Majengo to turn the lights on! Though we are connected to the grid electricity today, we still use the solar every day and it dramatically subsidizes our electricity costs. It is also an environmentally friendly way to power the site! ☀️🔋

In 2023, Majengo partnered with African Children’s Book Box Society to provide desks to students. Sitting at a desk which isn’t overcrowded is just one of many ways to make a classroom experience more enjoyable for students. A more comfortable classroom means performing better – which means long-term success. A win-win! ✏️✍🏽🔌

This year, Majengo helped repair and renovate facilities at Majengo Primary School, the public school located in the village surrounding the centre. Here is an aerial view of the school where we can see the beautifully painted bright blue walls making the school look much brighter than it had in years (as it had not been updated since 1973!).

At Majengo, we host several health clinics throughout the year dealing with different issues that are prominent in the community. Recently, a screening program took place that examined patients for high-blood pressure and diabetes. The clinic also offered advice on how to treat or manage any issues that arose. With so many people in the surrounding area not having access to health care, these clinics are critical to keeping the Majengo village a healthy and growing community.
