Malnutrition is a significant issue affecting Tanzanian children. Around 34% of children under the age of five in Tanzania are stunted, meaning they have impaired growth due to chronic malnutrition.

At the pre-school, the Majengo nurse Martha uses a number of techniques to make sure the children are growing every month. This helps ensure they are getting nutritious meals at Majengo as some of them will not receive meals when they return home in the evening.

We work in many different smaller communities in the Majengo area. One of those communities is the Maasai community who primarily speak Kimaasai. Thanks to our social worker who is fluent in Kimaasai, we can work seamlessly with vulnerable children in this community without language being a barrier.
